Go-live of the electronic document–based cargo handling process

Representatives from the Marketing Department of Saigon Newport Corporation, KVTC’s Board of Directors, Tan Cang Information Technology Solutions Joint Stock Company (TCIS), the Customs Authority, along with more than 40 forwarding companies, import–export enterprises, and logistics service providers attended the event.

This event marks an important milestone in KVTC’s journey toward comprehensive digital transformation of its cargo handling operations, aiming to achieve 100% digitalization of all cargo receipt and delivery processes.

The electronic document–based cargo handling system was developed by TCIS and deployed at the CFS warehouse of Tan Cang Cat Lai Terminal. This system integrates digital applications to accelerate cargo handling, simplify administrative procedures, and minimize errors or loss of paper documents. All confirmation steps for receiving and delivering goods, stuffing/unstuffing, payment, and document presentation are conducted entirely on a digital platform, replacing the traditional paper-based manual process.

KVTC is the first unit within the Saigon Newport system to implement an electronic document–based cargo handling process.

Import–export enterprises and forwarding companies can now create and confirm cargo transactions online, use digital signatures, receive e-invoices, and track the real-time status of shipments through the electronic warehouse management software, eWMS.

Previously, truck drivers entering the terminal for cargo delivery or pickup had to carry multiple paper documents and move between various departments to complete procedures. With electronic documentation now in place, processing time at the warehouse is reduced by at least 30–50%, significantly easing congestion around the CFS area.

Additionally, the system drastically reduces printing and paper storage needs, cuts operational costs, enhances data traceability, and strengthens smart data management—ensuring transparency and information security through electronic authentication and reconciliation.

The go-live of the electronic document–based cargo handling process is one of KVTC’s key projects in its digital transformation strategy, following the implementation of the AutoGate system and previous smart warehouse management initiatives.

The deployment of this process at the CFS warehouse, in coordination with the integrated digital platforms from WMSVN and AutoGate, reaffirms KVTC’s pioneering role in digital transformation within the Vietnamese logistics sector.

KVTC will continue to upgrade the eWMS system in the near future, focusing on enhancing intelligent features such as shipment tracking, cargo pickup scheduling, AI chatbots, and electronic data interchange (EDI) with logistics companies and shipping line agents.
